GROUP SUPERVISION FOR PROVISIONAL PSYCHOLOGISTS Description: This is a small group supervision format for provisional psychologists who have May as either a primary or secondary supervisor. Each session will focus on something relevant to the 4+2 and 5+1 pathway competencies. General Format: 5:30 - 5:40pm. Agenda items. 5:40 - 6:00pm. Presentation of relevant information. 6:00 - 6:20pm. ROLE PLAY WEDNESDAY
Description: Role Play Wednesdays is an experiential and experimental supervision group to improve therapy skills. It is held every 1st Wednesday of the month. Each month, we have a local psychologist or mental health professional from the Fraser Coast demonstrate a practical skill that they use. They then guide group practice. CIRCLE OF SECURITY FOR PROFESSIONALS WORKING WITH CHILDREN This group is limited to 6 spots. Once 6 spots are filled, registration will close. Each week builds on the previous content, so a commitment to participate in all weeks is required to complete the course. The Circle of Security® Parenting™ program (COS) is a parenting program developed specifically for children at risk of disrupted attachments and their caregivers. COS is based on decades of research that shows how parent-child relationships can be supported and strengthened to promote a secure attachment. This course is a parenting program, however is open to caregivers and to professionals and paraprofessionals alike. The program will be delivered in a small group format. Participants engage in an eight-chapter video-based program that runs over 8 weeks. The video content presents examples of secure and problematic parent/child interaction, healthy options in caregiving, and animated graphics designed to clarify principles central to Circle of Security Parenting. The facilitator encourages participants to use reflection and to apply the COS concepts between sessions. About the Facilitator: Liz Blight is a registered Psychologist with a passion in early interventions and preventative approaches that improve the outcomes of children. Liz assisted with the development of an early intervention programme aimed at raising career aspirations and delivered it to a few thousand of the Wide Bay region’s primary school children. More recently Liz has worked therapeutically in family support programmes in not-for-profit organisations and under Queensland Health’s Mental Health team to provide therapeutic interventions for children in out-of-home placements and to work systemically with child safety, education providers, foster support agencies, caregivers, and other relevant stakeholders. Suitable for: Child care workers, early education teachers, teachers, learning support staff, child safety officers, carers, community support workers, grandparents and extended family, coaches, frontline workers who work with children (e.g. police and ambulance officers), professionals working in family law court, health and allied health workers who work with children, NDIS workers who work with children, university-level students with an interest in working with children. Description: Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) is a condition that 2 – 3 percent of the Australian population may experience at some point in their lifetime. Parents are best placed to support children experiencing this condition. This is an informal evening for parents to come together with a chance to ask a psychologist their questions. There will be a 20 minute presentation from a local psychologist followed by Q&A from attendees. There will be the opportunity to exchange contact details if you would like to keep in touch with each other.
